Daily Self Care CosmeticsYou might have seen Avajar around on Instagram. They are famous for their hot pink colored v-line/v-shape masks. The meaning behind the name Avajar is “A” for “Aesthetic”, “va” for “valuable” and “jar” as in “a jar containing the value of beauty”. Pretty interesting right? The name also sounds a bit mysterious in my opinion.According to Avajar, they make quality products that help you maintain your natural beauty, and they consider themselves to be a “professional home care brand”. They analyze the habits and lifestyle of modern people, such as daily stress, lack of sleep, bad diet, etc. with the goal of trying to improve the skin’s natural regeneration and of course prolong the signs of aging. Disclosure:I have received all products here from Avajar in exchange for my honest review. I was not given anything in exchange for reviewing this product. I enjoy doing product reviews to share my own experiences with the product and hope someone finds it useful. I do not work for Avajar.Table of Contents- Skin Background- Quick Cleansing Dry Tissue - Aqua A-Solution Mask - Elasticity A-Solution Mask - Pore A-Solution Mask - Whitening Yellow LED Cream Mask - Perfect V Lifting Premium Mask - Perfect V Lifting Premium Activity Mask - Perfect V Lifting Premium Eye Mask (added 2/26/21) - Perfect Neck Age Wrinkle Control Mask (added 2/26/21) - Additional Care/Final Thoughts Skin BackgroundI have hyper sensitive combination skin. Many things irritate my skin so I’m a bit abnormal in that aspect (just something to consider if you’re reading any of my reviews). It’s currently still summer as I type, so my skin is more towards the oily side at this time. My main concerns are anti-aging/firmness and redness/irritated skin. I have very little issues with acne and uneven skin these days (yay for my current skincare routine). Routine & UsageMy current skincare routine (as of 2/22/2021) is as follows below. I have tested out most Avajar product reviewed, everyday for at least 1 week (less if I’ve only received enough masks for 2-3 days).Morning:
Night:
When I have extra time at night, I do use my Spa Sciences Aero skin infusion tool usually during my serum and cream steps or only the cream step if I’m more pressed for time. [back up] The ReviewsLight & Convenient CleansingQuick Cleansing Dry TissueThese Quick Cleansing Dry Tissues from Avajar are like a step above traditional makeup remover wipes, which just feel like you’re harshly rubbing an antibacterial wipe all over your face. The dry tissues have the advantage in that they start out dry but you wet them a bit under running water and squeeze - they become a wet wipe that lathers like a cleanser. I’m not a big fan of makeup remover wipes because they often don’t feel wet enough to substantially remove anything from my face. The Avajar Quick Cleansing Dry Tissues are designed to be 3-in-1 (cleansing, exfoliating, and toning). While I wouldn’t replace these steps in my routine with the dry tissues, if you’re working out or traveling, etc. – these can prove to be very valuable when you can’t hoard your entire skincare routine with you (or even when you’re feeling extremely lazy). As far as cleansing goes, this definitely cleanses better than a makeup remover wipe. It actually produces a light foam that gives me a more clean feeling than a makeup remover wipe ever could. In fact, if you’re wearing heavy makeup, you might still want to do a second cleanse after just to be sure. However, for just sunscreen or concealer/light eye makeup, this dry tissue works just fine for me. For exfoliation, this is definitely on the gentler side so you can use this often without worrying about over-exfoliation. If you need deeper exfoliation, there are definitely other products that you can use for that. And finally, I’m not sure if this product really does any toning, but I guess it leaves my face “balanced” in that, it doesn’t freak out after cleansing. While these dry wipes wouldn’t be a daily thing for me, I do see their usefulness and will always have a few on hand just in case. Each dry tissue is individually packaged as well, making them more hygenic than makeup remover wipes. Interesting ingredients include Kakadu plum, camu camu, and acerora. Final Rating = 4.5/5 (Might not necessarily change your mind about wipes if you really hate them, but these are a game changer in my opinion and gets the job done at least decently when you need it in a pinch.) » Buy Product [back up] Moisture Care/Deep Hydration Daily MaskAqua A-Solution MaskAvajar has a series of affordable daily masks called “A-Solution”. There’s one for Elasticity (pink - nourishing/elasticity), Aqua (blue - moisture care/deep hydration), Pore (green - pore care/oil control), and Whitening (yellow - whitening/skin vitality). This is the blue one for hydration. These are 100% cotton sheet masks with “no 6 harmful ingredients” (no silicone, parabens, PEG, phenoxyethanol, triethanolamine, and artificial color). Silicones and parabens don’t bother me as much since I understand why certain products/brands may use them, but I do give Avajar credit for being mindful of what they use/don’t use in their sheet masks (at least with the A-Solution series). According to Avajar, the 100% cotton is soft and gently adheres to one’s skin, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin. I haven’t had much issues with the material of sheet masks, but sometimes brands can make them too thin resulting in me accidentally ripping them while struggling to unfold them. The Avajar one is perfect in that it’s not too thin and it’s not overly dripping in essence either (it’s actually the right amount of essence in my opinion). Sometimes it can be messy trying to deal with so much excess mask essence - like really you just need enough to keep the mask moist. The Aqua mask claims to solve the issue of dry/dehydrated skin with 5 different kinds of hyaluronic acid. I remember when it used to be amazing to see a product have 3 different kinds of hyaluronic acid, but now 5 different kinds seems to be the "bare miniumum" when it comes to getting your hyaluronic acid fix now. The 5 different kinds are: 1. Ultra high molecular hyaluronic acid (to improve water retention), 2. High molecular hyaluronic acid (builds moisture barrier), 3. Medium hyaluronic acid (to maintain skin elasticity), 4. Low molecular hyaluronic acid (rapid moisture transfer), and 5. Ultra low molecular hyaluronic acid (strengthens skin absorption). In terms of results, this definitely did hydrate, a bit more than the Elasticity one if I had to compare. In fact, if you are more on the oily side, I do not recommend layering too many skincare products (like serums) prior to sheet masking because all the hydration might be a bit too overwhelming for oily skin. I would keep the routine simple with just toner, sheet mask, and maybe a very light gel moisturizer (or just spritz your face after masking with a light facial mist). Like the Elasticity one I previously reviewed, I can see some effects with this overtime if I keep using it and I do recommend it if you're looking specifically for a hyaluronic acid sheet mask. If I had to pick though, I would prefer spending money on a hyaluronic acid essence or serum (there's so many great choices now). You can get any of the A-Solution sheet masks for $19.95 USD on Amazon for a box of 10 (that’s $2.00 USD/sheet mask). Final Rating = 3.75/5 (Only because it's more cost efficient to just invest in a hyaluronic acid serum - for the sheet mask I would try the Elasticity one or something else.) » Buy Product [back up] Nourishing/Elasticity Daily MaskElasticity A-Solution MaskAvajar has a series of affordable daily masks called “A-Solution”. There’s one for Elasticity (pink - nourishing/elasticity), Aqua (blue - moisture care/deep hydration), Pore (green - pore care/oil control), and Whitening (yellow - whitening/skin vitality). I got the pink Elasticity one which I couldn’t be happier with since I’ve been struggling with a loss of firmness for awhile now. The Elasticity mask claims to whiten and anti-wrinkle (“tight elasticity care to the deep layer of your skin” they mention on their website). The elasticity care mostly comes from the star ingredient of triple pearl (hydrolyzed pearls, pearl extract, and pearl powder) to moisturize and nourish the skin with natural minerals & amino acids from pearls. It also helps smooth skin and strengthen its elasticity. There is also beta glucan (helps heal skin & enhance immunity) and aloe vera (vitamins E & C and hydration). In terms of results, I did feel like this helped firm up my skin a little bit (even if temporary) and it does leave it more hydrated and even. In fact, if you have the time, this is a great mask to use during the day prior to wearing makeup or anything else on your face, as it will apply much smoother and look more natural. I do prefer to layer as many serums as I can before putting the mask on, as I feel it helps seal those previous layers in. I’ve never really invested in daily masking before, but I have seen the effects of daily masking on others and do believe that it can help overtime since you’re kind of force feeding your skin with nutrients. I would consider daily masking (or at least every other day) with the Elasticity sheet mask since it is affordable and has pretty good ingredients for the price. You can get any of the A-Solution sheet masks for $19.95 USD on Amazon for a box of 10 (that’s $2.00 USD/sheet mask). Final Rating = 4/5 (The firming might be minimal/temporary and maybe the ingredients can be a tad more “fancy”, but considering its price point I can’t complain too much - it still gets the job done.) » Buy Product [back up] Pore Care/Oil Control MaskPore A-Solution MaskAvajar has a series of affordable daily masks called “A-Solution”. There’s one for Elasticity (pink - nourishing/elasticity), Aqua (blue - moisture care/deep hydration), Pore (green - pore care/oil control), and Whitening (yellow - whitening/skin vitality). This is the green one for pore/oil control, which came at a good time since I currently have some enlarged pores. The Pore mask claims to tighten sagging pores and control excess sebum. The pore care mostly comes from the star ingredients of trehalose (helps w/ collagen synthesis & pore elasticity), tea tree leaf (helps maintain healthy skin), and pine leaf (controls skin stress & excess sebum). In terms of results, I was really happy with this one. I had slept without washing my face the night before (yes, bad me) and my skin was a bit irritated and showing some enlarged pores. After I removed this face mask, the redness on my face was really toned down (making my overall face look brighter and more even), and the little bumps I was getting on my forehead were already shrinking down. Now, I’m not sure if the mask really does anything for oil control since we’re in the middle of winter and I’m not currently sweating buckets in the day. However, this mask is really good with tightening and minimizing pores! In fact, if you’re into that whole “glass skin” look, your face would look extra smooth and even a little plump with this sheet mask. Of all the Avajar A-Solution sheet masks, this would be the best one to use prior to wearing makeup (or even bare faced if you’d like). Keep in mind that if you do normally have huge pores, it will not necessarily get rid of them, but overall you will have a better appearance even if it’s temporary. You can get any of the A-Solution sheet masks for $19.95 USD on Amazon for a box of 10 (that’s $2.00 USD/sheet mask). Final Rating = 5/5 (My favorite of the A-Solution sheet masks. It does what it claims to really well and instantly made me look a lot better after I fell asleep without washing my face.) » Buy Product [back up] Moisturizing & Brightening MaskWhitening Yellow LED Cream MaskAvajar has a series of sheet mask versions of their LED Creams. If you’ve never heard of Avajar’s LED Creams before, they are basically little creams in the shape of a light bulb, with varying ingredients to target specific skin concerns. What makes them unique is that each cream comes with a ring top that is actually an LED light designed to work with the cream. I’ve never used LED technology on my face before and I’ve never tried any of the LED Creams (yet), so I can’t comment on them. Anyway. These are supposed to be the sheet mask version with a slightly thicker, milky essence similar to the LED Creams (and containing mostly the same ingredients). There’s one for Hydrating (blue), Whitening (yellow), and Nourishing (red – the LED light is red but the actual cream bottle is pink). I got the yellow Whitening one, which I’m always up for brighter, more luminous skin. These are 100% vegan sheet masks with “no 6 harmful ingredients” (no silicone, parabens, PEG, phenoxyethanol, triethanolamine, and artificial color). Silicones and parabens don’t bother me as much since I understand why certain products/brands may use them, but I do give Avajar credit for being mindful of what they use/don’t use in their sheet masks. These sheet masks gently adhere to one’s skin, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin. I haven’t had much issues with the material of sheet masks, but sometimes brands can make them too thin resulting in me accidentally ripping them while struggling to unfold them. This LED Cream Mask probably feels a bit more wet in essence than the A-Solution series, but that’s probably because of the thicker, milky essence that’s coated all over the sheet mask. Sometimes it can be messy trying to deal with so much excess mask essence – however I didn’t have any issues with this one at all and it didn’t start dripping down my face like some sheet masks may do, especially if you don’t lie down. The Whitening mask claims to whiten (brighten) and vitalize skin in addition to moisturizing for overall improvement of your skin complexion. The whitening care mostly comes from the star ingredients of glutathione (whitening amino acid), quercetin (a yellow-colored powder that helps protect skin), and arbutin (suppresses melanin and helps brighten by blocking skin pigmentation). In terms of effects, the first time I used this mask I didn’t think it brightened my skin tone as much as I expected it to (though my overall skincare routine has been brightening my skin up lately). My skin did look comfortably moisturized (without excess stickiness and grease) and had a “lit from within” kind of glow. I guess it did at least look more even after one use. The second time I used this mask, I thought the glow-up was more apparent, especially after I finished off the rest of my skincare routine and let it all sink in for a good 10 minutes or so. I still wouldn’t say it whitens your actual skin tone in any way (or maybe the effect is more gradual) but I was having a really good skin day. My skin just looked luminous and radiant like I would feel comfortable going out barefaced. I think that if you used this sheet mask more frequently, or even just used the LED Cream version every night, your skin would definitely have some long term glow (it just might work a little slow for some). I even had a little bit of color to my cheeks and it was not because I was experiencing any irritation. I also used my skin infusion device after masking, so I’m not sure if that helped amplified the effects a little bit. I definitely want to try the cream version now that I’ve experienced this mask one! You can get any of the A-Solution sheet masks for $8.00 USD on Amazon for a box of 5 (that’s $1.60 USD/sheet mask). Final Rating = 4.75/5 (The brightening effect might be a little slow but if this is even a fraction of the LED Cream version – this is still great for the price point and it does make your skin more luminous looking.) » Buy Product [back up] Original Lifting Solution for Jawline/Double ChinPerfect V Lifting Premium MaskThe Perfect V Lifting Premium Mask is probably the original product that Avajar was initially known for (I know this was the first product of theirs I’ve heard of). This is a stretchy mask that is designed to hook around your ears and covers the lower perimeter of your face (your jawline area and chin). This mask claims to reduce your double chin and lift (not necessarily remove) excess fat on your face. First of all, I have what I consider to be a small face (many sheet masks for example feel so big on me). I might not exactly be the best person to test out this product, let alone I definitely don’t have any issues with a double chin, let alone puffiness or sagging cheeks. However, I did previously try the Activity version of this mask, and wanted to see how the original compared. General instructions are to leave the mask on for 2-3 hours, however being the little “over achiever”, I felt like this mask would do a lot better if worn overnight. I wore this mask every night or so just to get a better idea of the long term results (if any) of this mask. Honestly speaking, I think caring for your body (diet) and applying actual firming serums that stay longer on your skin may go further than relying on this mask to slim down your face. With that said, it’s still a good choice for traveling and on-the-go, for when you want to temporarily slim/depuff your face for a special event. I know I said earlier I don’t have any issues with puffiness, but sometimes when I sleep too much I might wake up a little puffy looking and this does tighten my face up a bit.Notable ingredients include caffeine (softens skin), tataric acid (balances skin), glaucine (smooths & improves elasticity), collagen (moisturizes & improves elasticity), phosphatidyl choline (natural enzymes from soybeans), and hyaluronic acid (moisturizing). I don’t think I saw a difference between this version and the Activity one, just that the Activity one might cover certain areas of your face more since it’s designed to be worn under a hat while you’re outdoors (the areas that your hat might not necessarily cover). Also, I didn’t get to mention this with my review on the Activity version, but apparently if your ears start to hurt while wearing the mask, it means that the mask is doing its job to tighten and firm (Avajar says “no pain no gain”). You can get these lifting masks for $28.00 USD on Amazon for a box of 10 (that’s $2.80 USD/lifting mask). Final Rating = 2.5/5 (Only because the results were very minimal on me, but there are people who have had better luck using this and actually have a double chin.) » Buy Product [back up] Lifting Solution for Outdoor ActivityPerfect V Lifting Premium Activity MaskThe Perfect V Lifting Premium Activity Mask is similar to Avajar’s original pink lifting mask, except this one is designed to be used outdoors or while you’re “out and about”, rather than something that you’ll have to wait until you’re at home in the evening to do. As depicted on the box, you can wear this mask while covering yourself with a hat and go about your day outside. First of all, I have what I consider to be a small face (many sheet masks for example feel so big on me). I might not exactly be the best person to test out this product, let alone I don’t exactly have any issues with facial puffiness or sagging cheeks. However, I just turned 35 this year, so I look forward to trying any anti-aging/firming products even if they’re just temporary/for maintenance or long term/prevention. The instructions say to leave the mask on for 2-3 hours, however being the little “over achiever”, I felt like this mask would do a lot better if worn overnight. I wore this mask overnight every 2 days or so just to get a better idea of the long term results (if any) of this mask. Honestly speaking, I think caring for your body (diet) and applying actual firming serums that stay longer on your skin may go further than relying on this mask to slim down your face. With that said, it’s still a good choice for traveling and on-the-go, for when you want to temporarily slim/depuff your face for a special event.Final Rating = 2.5/5 (Only because the results were very minimal on me, but there are people who have had better luck using this - keep in mind the original pink lifting one might possibly work better.) » Buy Product [back up] Undereye Gel Pads for Eye Bag & Dark Circle TreatmentPerfect V Lifting Premium Eye MaskMost eye masks that you’ve seen are probably the sheet mask kind or the slippery hydrogel kind that come in a jar container. These Perfect V Lifting Premium Eye Masks look like a sheet/fabric mask on top, but they are cooling gel pads on the bottom. They mostly adhere to your eye area as long as you don’t move around too much. I probably wouldn’t wear these too sleep since they don’t feel that tight against my eye area and will probably shift around very easily. First of all, I really like the fit of this eye mask in that the very end curls up. Some people are also dealing with fine lines/wrinkles around the outer corners of their eyes (or at least just trying to prevent it). With the shape of these eye masks, I feel like I got my eyes covered where it really counts and not just the general area where one might get eye bags and/or dark circles. Now I don’t have any issues with eye bags and I don’t have major issues with dark circles (just the occasional shadows from a lack of sleep). I do have some issues with fine lines and dryness due to age, so I had wanted to see what the eye masks would do for those two things. Since I only received 2 sets (which I don’t feel isn’t enough to see what the eye mask is fully capable of), I just tried one set on myself and the other on my boyfriend. While we both didn’t see drastic effects with the eye mask, it did hydrate the eye area (without excess mask serum/essence) enough to already make it look a bit better than before. I can see someone using this as a quick pick me-up just before a Zoom call or masking on the go in your private office/cubicle if you there. I can’t say it’s a must, but there are some people that are just as much of a fanatic about eye masks as they are about regular face masks. This is definitely worth a try and a decent option amongst all the eye masks out there. Notable ingredients include eterniskin (maitake mushroom extract for collagen rescue), actiwhite (brightening), adenosine (anti-wrinkle), and tartaric acid (healing & anti-aging). Final Rating = 2.5/5 (Only because the results were very minimal on me, but it does hydrate & has an interesting mask shape. I do see some potential in this.) » Buy Product [back up] Lifting & Tightening Neck Wrinkle TreatmentPerfect Neck Age Wrinkle Control MaskYou may or may not have heard of a neck mask. You already have a face mask, eye mask, and a chin/v-line mask, so why not a neck mask? Unfortunately not everyone pays attention to their neck and one day you might wonder why your neck has deeper and/or more lines than usual. Just like our face, our neck ages as well. Normally I take everything that I put on my face (sometimes even eye cream) to my neck, so I don’t worry too much about this area. However, it’s always nice to have an option for extra care of your neck area.I barely have any neck lines but I can see them creeping up/getting slightly deeper towards the edges. Probably because I’m always staring at a computer screen in awkward angles (like how you get lines from smiling too much). This is a 2-step mask. First you put the ampoule all over your neck (after washing your face and neck first). Then you apply the sheet mask over your neck area after the ampoule has fully absorbed. I did my entire skincare routine on my face while I was using this mask on my neck. As long as you stay in one spot and don’t move your head around a lot (like just sit still watching tv), the neck mask does stay on. I was very impressed with how hydrating this was, but I guess it all makes sense, as the intense hydration immediately made the fine lines less noticeable on my neck. I can give credit to the ampoule which is like a creamy gel compared to the more watery serums and essences that I’m used to. I still think the best way to deal with neck lines is to take all of your anti-aging skincare down to your neck, however this neck mask is a nice little treat if you have any concerns with your neck. According to Avajar (and with most special treatments), it looks like you do have to go through at least a box, consistently using these neck masks to see some more significant anti-aging results. Notable ingredients include hydrolyzed rice protein (anti-irritation & skin smoothing), hydrolyzed soybean protein (anti-aging & firming), and hydrolyzed oat extract (anti-oxidant & skin balancing). Final Rating = 3.5/5 (I would have to try this more often but I am happy with the results as I’m now at an age when I should be paying more attention to my neck.) » Buy Product [back up] Additional CareFinal ImpressionsI will give my final impressions on Avajar after I’ve tried the majority of their products, as I still have a lot more to review and will keep updating this post with my mini-reviews of their products. I’ve already been testing and reviewing Avajar products for the last 8 months as of February 2021. I’m not sure if Avajar will give me more products for review, but at this point the only major one that I haven’t reviewed are one of the LED Creams, which I might purchase myself in the future. If you have any questions about any of the products above, please let me know.
