First things first. I don’t necessarily go around looking for “clean” or vegan beauty products - I do tend to prefer products to just have good (scientifically proven) ingredients that just work. However, I have tested out many products lately that have seemed to put my sensitive skin into irritation overdrive. I do immediately stop using a product if I know it’s bad for my skin, but sometimes the skin recovery period can be long and a bit emotionally painful. Since late last year (2019), I have been slowly incorporating more gentle products - specifically those geared towards sensitive skin.
Model Off Duty Beauty piqued my interest as they’re not just a brand that has nice simple aesthetics to their products. For those of you who are very ingredients-driven (more of the good stuff and less “filler” ingredients) - you will definitely feel at home. Model Off Duty Beauty doesn’t just have gentle ingredients for the sake of being gentle per say - there’s actually a lot of interesting/useful ingredients packed into each product. Looking over each product description, you can tell that a lot of thought and care was put into the formulation, to make sure that they’re also equally effective in addition to being gentle. That alone pulled me to try at least one of their products, especially since the very last product I tried from a different brand, slowly irritated my face.
Disclosure:I received these products from Model Off Duty Beauty in exchange for my honest review. I was not given anything in exchange for reviewing any of these products. I enjoy doing product reviews to share my own experiences with the product and hope someone finds it useful. I do not work for Model Off Duty Beauty.

Safe & Clean Beauty
There have been an increasing number of brands claiming to have clean/vegan products, but a closer look at some of the ingredients might reveal some questionable (although “natural” as it may be) ingredients that don’t necessarily add anything to the overall formulation. They are probably more of a filler that potentially dials down any effects we’re supposed to see with the active/main ingredients. From Model Off Duty Beauty's website, “We obsessively research our ingredients and only use clean, natural, non-toxic, effective, and high-quality ingredients that are vegan & cruelty free.”
Routine & Usage:Since I’ve been changing up my routine quite frequently these days, I’ve been finding it important to list what products I’m using whenever I incorporate something new.
My skincare routine for the 2+ weeks that I used the Model Off Duty products are as follows below.
When I have extra time at night, I do use my Spa Sciences Aero skin infusion tool usually during my serum and cream steps or only the cream step if I’m more pressed for time.
Model Off Duty Beauty Superfruit Restorative Eye CreamThis eye cream claims to help you defy gravity (anti-aging) by supporting the lifting and firming of your eye area. It also claims to brighten and hydrate the thin skin around your eyes, helping to improve skin elasticity, while also minimizing fine lines. The main ingredients are organic pumpkin (vitamins A, C, and E, fights sun damage & wrinkles), cranberry oil (perfect ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids, firms & tightens skin), hyaluronic acid (retains moisture), marula (helps soften wrinkles & stimulate collagen, minimizes dark spots), and baobab oil (improves skin elasticity & fights free radicals). Also worth noting, the very first ingredient in this is not plain water but organic aloe leaf juice (highly anti-inflammatory). Other interesting ingredients include organic olive fruit oil (moisturizes & fights bacteria), organic rooibos leaf (fights free radicals & anti-aging), pomegranate seed (reduces & prevents wrinkles), and organic blueberry (very high in antioxidants & strengthens new collagen formation).
Onto the actual results...Did this lift and firm? “Yes” if one of your eye concerns is dryness. When your eye area is more hydrated (and long lasting hydration), fine lines are minimized and your eye area looks more healthy and awake. With prolonged use, the ingredients should help with the lifting and firming in the long run as well. Did this brighten and hydrate? “Yes”. To add onto my statement earlier, this not only hydrates your eye area, but I think it’s pretty long lasting as well. Normally when I wear foundation (or even just plain sunscreen), I can see my eye area look more crepey as the day goes on, and my eye area only really looks good the first hour that I apply eye cream. With the Model Off Duty Beauty one, my eye area still looks pretty hydrated by the end of the day, and any makeup I’m wearing doesn’t sink into my fine lines (you know what I'm talking about if you have this problem). Now, I don’t have serious dark circles, but I’ll occasionally get some shadowing due to a lack of sleep and dehydration. Usually I just need to properly hydrate my eye area and it looks nice and bright again. I’m happy to report that when I wake up the next morning, I have like zero dark circles while using this cream. Depending on the severity, this eye cream alone might not banish all your dark circles (I’m being realistic here), but it does contain actual ingredients that help minimize it and not some weird tint or shimmers that just masks the problem.
Finally, I think this eye cream does help with collagen boosting a bit since my right eye (the side that often gets more sun exposure) looks less sunken in. This eye cream does come in a lightweight pudding-like texture which not everyone might be into. It is different and I kind of like it as it does force me to carefully tap my eye area (you can’t really slather this on - it’s better to tap it in). Also, make sure the eye cream is properly absorbed before you move onto the next step in your routine. And because this eye cream is pretty lightweight, for those of you with really dry and/or mature skin, you might still want to use a heavy-duty eye cream at night (this is a great day cream though). While I don’t normally go around smelling all my skincare (unless it specifically advertises itself has having a nice scent), you can smell some alcohol in this. However, please note that this product contains organic alcohol (which isn’t the bad petroleum or denatured kind) and cetyl alcohol (which is a fatty alcohol and is actually good for you). At $38 USD for 1 oz. some of you might think that this eye cream is expensive (and maybe it is if you compare it to cheaper drugstore brands). I often buy eye creams from department stores and places like Sephora, so to me this eye cream is affordable considering its formulation, effectiveness, and how much product you get. There is even a larger 2 oz. jar for $61 USD (which brings this down to $30.50 USD/oz.) So if you have similar eye issues/concerns as referenced above, this is definitely worth a try and hopefully you have the same experience with it as I have.
Final Rating = 5/5 (As a day cream or lightweight eye cream for oily/combo skin).

Soothe + Hydrate
Model Off Duty Beauty Pure Rose Face Polish ExfoliatorThis physical exfoliator claims to cleanse and remove dead skin cells. It also claims to soften your skin with emollients and even your skin tone. The main ingredients in this are: organic aloe vera juice (1st ingredient and highly anti-inflammatory), rose (anti-inflammatory & moisturizing), sweet almond oil shea butter (smoothing & moisturizing), and hibiscus (natural AHAs & oil controlling). Exfoliators are a lot more straight forward than other skincare products in that they should just exfoliate (seems easy enough to achieve). Now I tend to prefer chemical exfoliators as they really helped with my acne, however, I don’t mind the occasional physical exfoliator to slough off dry flakes on the outermost layer of my skin.
Onto the actual results...Did it cleanse and remove skin cells? “Yes” and very gently might I add. My face did not at all feel scratched up and red after using. Did this soften and even skin? This definitely softened. In fact, because I know it has nice moisturizing and nurturing ingredients such as rose, shea butter, and hibiscus, I like to leave this exfoliator on my face for about 3-5 minutes before applying some water and exfoliating. Now it doesn’t do any significant brightening (nor does it claim to), but when you exfoliate your skin, you do get an overall more even appearance (so “Yes” to that claim as well).
Finally, this exfoliator does smell a bit like roses/something floral, but not overpowering, just something fresh and natural. I think that if you’re specifically looking for a gentle physical exfoliator that also moisturizes and has clean ingredients, you can’t go wrong with this Model Off Duty Beauty one. This does come in a jar packaging though, so always make sure you use a clean spatula every time when applying. At $38 USD for 4 oz., I think that this is a good deal for such a large amount, plus you will most likely only use this 1-2 times a week anyway. I don’t really have anything bad to say about this physical exfoliator so this is definitely worth a try. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I have.
Final Rating = 5/5 (If you like physical exfoliators - no complaints here!)

Putting Skincare First
Final Impressions:I feel like the idea behind Model Off Duty Beauty is that you can look and feel good in your own skin all the time, even when you’re “off duty”. I can get behind that especially since I don’t wear makeup all the time, but obviously I still want to care for my skin and put my best face forward (makeup or not). In short, skincare does get overwhelming and sometimes I feel like it’s even worse for those of us that have sensitive skin (or skin that seems to hate most things). While there seems to have been an increase in potentially harsh ingredients like tons of retinol, high percentage vitamin C and AHAs, I’m glad to have some across Model Off Duty Beauty, that offers some good quality products with more gentle ingredients in mind. Thank you Model Off Duty Beauty and I hope to try more products in the future!
