Introducing Promise Cosmeceuticals

Promise Cosmetics is a brand founded by Asaf Dekel. They were named with the "promise" to provide skincare products with actual high quality ingredients, that in return also produced high quality results. I can totally understand this as often times it feels like you're paying more for the name brand, fancy packaging, or even fancy sounding ingredients, than good results. I truly agree with their "feel good, look good, and do good" attitude. As a bonus, a portion of their profits go to a support center to help young people with disabilities to stay active.

Disclosure:

I received this product from Promise Cosmetics in exchange for my honest review. I was not given any money to do this review. I am not a Promise Cosmetics employee, however, as of this posting, I did eventually become a Promise Cosmetics partner a few weeks after initially testing the product. I would not currently be a partner for Promise Cosmetics if I really did not like the product and/or believed in the brand and their vision. I enjoy doing product reviews to share my own experiences with the product and hope someone finds it useful.

Liquick The One-of-a-Kind Mud Mask

Product Description & How-To:

Liquick is exactly how it sounds. It is a liquid mud mask that only takes 5 minutes of your time to purify and make your skin glow. According to their website, this helps banish blackheads and breakouts, as well as help minimize enlarged pores. In addition to its clarifying properties, this mask made with Dead Sea mud, also claims to soften and smooth the appearance of your skin.

How To Use:

Step 1 is to first shake the product container. Step 2 is to then pour some of the product onto the included silicone applicator (this acts as a "beauty blender" for your mud mask). Step 3 is to leave the mud mask on your face for at least 5 minutes, then wash off to reveal renewed skin.

Clay vs Mud Masks

What is the Difference?

You have probably seen more clay kind of face masks than mud. At least when I think of mud masks, I think of something that professionals use at spas…The truth is that they are nearly the same in that they both clarify and get the gunk out of your skin, except that clay masks are drying and more suitable towards those with acne-prone/oily skin. Mud masks on the other hand are water-based and more for its healing properties, therefore they are more hydrating and suitable for those with normal to dry skin.

Just like with clay masks, there are many different types of mud masks out there such as: French clay mud, volcanic mud, fuller’s earth, black mud, alpine moor mud, and Dead Sea mud. Dead Sea mud comes from (you guessed it), the Dead Sea in the middle east. It has been known to detoxify and increase circulation, as well as improve the health of your skin (even tone, texture, and clearer skin).

Get Set, Glow With Liquick

Let's take a look at the ingredients that Liquick contains to see how it might soften and give you smooth, glowing skin.

Notable Ingredients:

  • Dead Sea Mud - Removes impurities and dead skin. It also contains salt and magnesium that can help improve your skin barrier as well as make it more elastic.
  • Rosemary Leaf Extract - Helps protect skin cells from sun damage and free radicals. It also has natural antiseptic properties.
  • Clary Sage Oil - Tones the skin with its mild astringent properties and reduces inflammation. Can also help regulate sebum production.
  • Lavender Oil - Can reduce redness, blotchiness, and helps reduce acne scarring. Also has anti-inflammatory properties making it perfect for soothing and healing irritated skin.
  • Honeysuckle Flower Extract
  • Aloe Leaf Juice
  • Squalane & Squalene
  • Jojoba Oil

Packaging, Scent & Texture

Packaging:

I have to admit I was pretty surprised at the packaging. It comes in like a dark royal purple plastic bottle with a silver flip top. Makes me feel a bit royal/princess-like, LOL. I like how it's both sturdy and chic, not to mention that the flip top opening makes it easy to use the product as you can just pour it out and not have to worry about scooping it out, as you'll often have to do with masks that come in a jar.

Scent & Texture:

Despite how this product looks, it doesn't have a weird clay/mud smell, not even a chemical-ish smell. It actually smells like perfumed powder (but I didn't find it very over powering). The texture itself is very liquidy though, so you do need to apply it with their included silicone sponge. I actually appreciate the fact that I don't have to stick a spatula into a jar and try to scoop up some tough/thick texture to put onto my face.

5 Minute Mud Mask

Performance:

It really only takes 5 minutes of your time...

Right after my face is smoothed and its appearance looks subtly blurred kinda like I had just used a photo filter effect.

This product is not drying at all and it didn't leave my face uncomfortably stiff. I did feel a bit of grit from the product itself when washing it off (not necessarily a bad thing). I'm happy to report that this was very easy to wash off.

Pros:

  • Refines your skin giving it an overall clearer appearance. Instant results: softer/smoother, almost blurred/filtered skin.
  • Not drying at all.
  • If you don't mind a "powdery" scent, it's pleasantly smelling compared to similar products.
  • Sturdy plastic packinging and liquid texture makes it easy to use/apply (with included silicone sponge).
  • A portion of profits go to a support center to help young people with disabilities to stay active
  • It only takes 5 minutes of your time and is very easy to wash off!

Cons:

  • At $45 USD, it's definitely not cheap, but you are paying for good packaging, ingredients, and formulation if it helps.
  • Since this is a multi-tasking product (meant to treat multiple issues), it might not treat a particular issue as well as you might expect (think "jack of all trades but master of none").
  • Only available online (it's not something that you can just pick up at your local Target or Sephora for example).
  • Solid purple bottle makes it hard to see how much product you have left but seeing as you will probably use this only a couple times a week or so, this should last you a long time despite this and the expensive cost as well.

Just Like "Magic"

Final Impressions:

Honestly speaking I've never really regularly used a clay/mud mask before so maybe I don't have much experience with them to compare the Liquick too, but I do know that I love how it only takes 5 minutes to get brighter & smoother skin, and how easy it is to use. I would definitely recommend this product for these reasons alone.

As a big fan of double-masking, I definitely recommend using a hydrating/nourishing mask after this to amplify the effects.

My favorite thing to do is to use the Liquick after cleansing to kind of clarify my skin and after washing it off, use a hydrating sheet mask or sleeping mask (either right after or later on in my routine). Your skin will definitely be lit from within.

The Results

Before

After

Update 12/08/2018: I really do apologize for taking so long to upload the before and after photos. I pretty much fell off the bandwagon after doing this post and it became extremely difficult for me to find time to give proper attention to this blog while working a full-time office job plus dealing with real life, etc. I pretty much have to wake up super early in the morning now to get any kind of blogging done (or just have a zero social life, LOL). Thank you for understanding. I did try my best to capture the photos in the same lighting which is easier said than done. I don't think the mask produces as glowy as a look you might see in the after photo, but that could be because my face was still a bit wet and the lighting, etc.

Final Rating = 4/5
