Relax & Melt The Tension Away
Product Description & How-To:If you're unfamiliar, these massage bars are basically moisturizing butters in solid form. They are designed to melt onto your skin using your own body heat. They are perfect for helping to relieve stress and sore muscles.
Révérence Nature massage bars are cruelty-free.
How to Use:You use this almost like you would a bar of soap, except don't use it in the shower unless you want it to completely melt away. Just rub it on dry skin (ideally after you've taken a shower or after a workout). Use the curved side to massage it onto your skin similar to a jade roller or other massage tool. One massage bar is probably enough for your entire body, but if you want this to last longer, you can just use this on your face and neck/chest area (one bar will last several uses this way). If using on your face, I suggest taking a tissue or paper towel and lightly blotting the excess on your face (just so it won't feel so pore clogging or suffocating if you have combo/oily skin).
Getting Hands On
Skincare Benefits:The main benefit of a massage bar compared to a normal lotion is that it pampers your skin in a much deeper way due to its concentration of oils, butters, essential oils and beeswax. Massaging definitely requires some time and patience on your end. However, if it is something that you are able to add onto your selfcare routine once in awhile, it does bring a whole set of benefits as outlined below.
Massage As Skincare TherapyLet’s take a look at the ingredients that the Reverence Nature massage bars contain to see how it might soften and give you smooth, glowing skin. The ingredients below are all enriched in fine 100% certified organic essential oils.
Packaging, Scent & Texture
Packaging:Luxury Wellness in a Box. The massage bars come in a nice black box, perfect for gifting or just displaying on your vanity. It also conveniently comes with a travel-sized box so you can bring a massage bar of your choice with you to the gym or on a trip.
Scent & Texture:There are 4 massage bars, all 100% organic ingredients and each with their own “theme” and set of scents.
Earth: Made up of cedarwood atlas, clary sage, and cinnamon, this one might smell a tad bit “earthy” but to me I mostly smell cinnamon...Not a cinnamon roll-type of scent, but just a spicy cinnamon
Air: Made up of lavender essential oil of provence, rosemary, and lavender flower of provence, this one probably smells the most calming/soothing due to the lavender (which is what I mostly smell). If you enjoy the scent of lavender, you will love this one. It kind of smells like I’m in a huge field of lavenders…
Water: Made up of lemongrass, orange, and nutmeg, I mostly smell nutmeg with a hint of orange. Despite this one being the “water” theme, this smells more earthy to me than the earth-themed one…
Fire: Made up of ylang ylang, peppermint, and ginger, this one kind of gives off a similar “spicy” scent like the earth-themed one, except this one has a more gingerly scent as opposed to the cinnamon in the earth one.
Earth, Air, Water, And Fire
Performance:If you’ve never used a massage bar before, it really does seem like you’re rubbing non-lathering (but beautifully scented) soap on your body. In fact, as small as these massage bars are, I really do appreciate their curved shape on one side (it makes it easier for rubbing and massaging against your skin).
This really is a body butter in solid form. Just a couple of swipes is more than enough (though if you’re using it on your face you might not want to do more than 1, 2 swipes at the most in any area). Since these body bars are pretty small and not exactly cheap either, I really do recommend using these on your face or around your neck and chest area. If you used these bars on your body, you can probably use up an entire bar on just one massage session on your body. I did not use any of these massage bars on my body.
How I use up one massage bar is I just move it up and away similar to if I had used a jade roller or gua sha massage tool on my face/neck area. After just 1-2 swipes all over, I rub in the excess. The body butter is heavy so I do take a tissue and lightly blot. I mainly do this because my technique is that right after a session with the massage bar, I like to lightly go over those areas with my Self Kaire beauty roller. Ever heard of double masking? Think of this as double massaging. After everything is done, my face is still so hydrated, I don’t feel the need to use a moisturizer after. I guess you still could if you really wanted to, but I have combination skin and I’d probably breakout from adding anymore moisture to my skin. If you feel the need to kind of “seal off” and/or refresh your skin after your little massage session, I would suggest maybe using a facial mist after.
Smooth Like Butter
Final Impressions:Honestly speaking I've never even heard of massage bars until I was approached by Révérence Nature. You might be familiar with massage bars from the brand Lush, though I've never tried anything from Lush before nor is there one that close to me that I would be able to regularly buy their products. I try to keep an open mind when I try new products because not only might you pleasantly enjoy something, but you might even discover something that you've never thought about trying before. Especially with some seems like a recent surge in massage (especially facial massage), I can see something like massage bars becoming more popular in addition to facial massage tools. As of this post it might be too late to be shopping for Christmas gifts, but regardless of the holiday or occassion, this massage bar set would make a great gift set. I definitely recommend this for the person in your life who is really into selfcare, may be one who would be into spa-like type of things.
