Ultimate Radiant + Natural Glow

"Urang" is kind of a masshup of the phrase "Ultimate Radiannt + Natural Glow". It is a South Korean skincare brand with values in honesty and consciousness. It was born from founder, Jina Lee (mother & holistic aromatherapist), who wanted to create something with high-quality natural, organic ingredients that were safe for the whole family. The products are supposed to blur the line between what is actually good for your skin, yet highly effective.

Urang is a cruelty-free, EWG-verified brand with many vegan product options.

Disclosure:

I bought this with my own money from OhLolly. I was not given anything in exchange for this review. I enjoy doing product reviews to share my own experiences with the product and hope someone finds it useful. I am not an OhLolly or Urang employee, however I do have some affiliate links within this post if you wish to click them (they go directly to the OhLolly website).

Fresh is Better

Product Description & Claims:

Similar to other sheet masks where the actual mask is kept separately packaged from the essence until it's ready to use, Urang's Love sheet masks really drive the belief that a mask is best when its ingredients are fresh. As usual, these sheet masks from Urang are clean, with natural preservatives and zero harsh chemicals.

How To Use:

1. Tear the heart-shaped mask in half (like it's a broken heart), so you end up with two halves (the dry mask in one and the essence in the other).

2. Open the pouch zipper on the dry mask part and pour the essence from the fresh essence part (after ripping it open) into the dry mask pouch. Close the pouch zipper and shake/mix the mask with the essence to completely soak it.

3. Open up the pouch zipper and apply the freshly soaked mask to your face as you would with any other sheet mask. You can keep the sheet mask on your face for about 10-15 minutes before removing. If there's any remaining essence in the pouch, you can apply the rest to your face/neck/arms.

Urang does recommend following with 1-2 drops of Urang Oil serum or cream to maximize results. Personally if you have a facial oil or serum that you really like, you can just put 1-2 drops BEFORE sheet masking to create like a "sandwich" of essences, and then finish off with either the same facial oil or serum after masking, or your favorite moisturizer/sleeping mask.

Urang Love Cica x Opuntia Mask Mini-Review

Soothing & Hydrating for Sensitive Skin

This is the green colored sheet mask. Just like its name, the 2 main ingredients of this sheet mask are:
- 40% organic centalla asiatica (cica). This is rich in amino acids and famous in the Korean beauty community for helping to reduce redness and inflammation.
- 5% organic opuntia humifusa flower/stem (Korean prickly pear cactus). If you've ever used anything from the brand Huxley, it is similar to their Sahara prickly pear. This has vitamin E and K for skin-softening and fatty acids to help prevent wrinkles.

Other interesting ingredients include: lichen extract (fights skin impurities & inflammation), Japanese/sansho pepper fruit extract (encourages cell growth & fights fine lines and wrinkles), Korean pasque flower extract (anti-bacterial & astrigent), calendula (stimulates collagen & reduces dry skin), chamomile/matricia flower (reduces irritations & restores suppleness to skin), and citric acid (promotes skin growth & brightens skin/scars).

Performance: First off this does have a floral scent (no surprise there with all the floral ingredients) with a bit of a "burnt sugar" (sweet) type of after-scent. Don't let my "burnt sugar" description deter you though, it's actually a good scent, like carmelized sugar. Now, the results after using this sheet mask were awesome. It kept my face hydrated enough without necessarily soaking it in essence - meaning any remaining essence I still had left over on my face, was really easy to pat in and absorb.

The texture afterwards reminds me of the Huxley Oil in Essence...My face felt very silky smooth and primer-like (without all the silicones).

I couldn't wait to apply makeup on top since it really did remind me of a good makeup primer/base. The most impressive thing though was that my face managed to look very plump and hydrated after foundation without looking all greasy - and it stayed this way for nearly the whole day.

Sometimes I do not like sheet masking prior to putting on make up, as being oily and in this summer heat, it does make me more oily by the end of the day. This Cica x Opuntia sheet mask did not make me more oily than I normally would had I not sheet masked. As someone who's been focusing more on firming my skin this year, the sheet mask also kept my skin firm pretty much the entire day. When I took my makeup off, my face was still very plump, smooth, and hydrated. My face is slightly less firm on one side due to aging and sun exposure, so if a sheet mask alone can firm this all up, it is a pretty darn good sheet mask! I suspect this is al due to the amino acids in the centella asiatica (my skin has been liking amino acids as an ingredient) and the vitamin E in the prickly pear (my skin has been known to plump up with vitamin E products). As for any sensitivities, my face was slightly red due to some actives I was using the night before, and this sheet mask did help calm that inflammation down (as expected of the centella asiatica). I only bought one sheet mask just to try this out but next time (and when my wallet isn't hurting, LOL) I will buy the full box of this because it's that good. Urang, if you're reading this, please consider an essence/serum version of this. It's just too good to only have as a sheet mask!

Final Rating = 5/5

Urang Love Rose x Hibiscus Mask Mini-Review

Brightening & Hydrating

This is the pink colored sheet mask. Just like its name, the 2 main ingredients of this sheet mask are:
- 45% organic rose water. This has been known in the beauty community to not only clarify the skin, but to also reduce irritation and skin puffiness.
- 5% organic hibiscus. This is a powerful antioxidant that brightens skin, purifies pores, and helps increase cell turnover. a powerful antioxidant that brightens age spots, increases cell turnover, and naturally purifies pores.

Other interesting ingredients include: hyaluronic acid, lichen extract (fights skin impurities & inflammation), Japanese/sansho pepper fruit extract (encourages cell growth & fights fine lines and wrinkles), Korean pasque flower extract (anti-bacterial & astrigent), calendula (stimulates collagen & reduces dry skin), chamomile/matricia flower (reduces irritations & restores suppleness to skin), and arginine.

Performance: This has even more of a floral scent compared to the Cica x Opuntia one. In fact, if you've ever used a rose-type of product (like rose water), it smells like that, almost like a bouquet of flowers. Like the Cica x Opuntia one, this doesn't have a bit of a "burnt sugar" (sweet) type of after-scent (it's actually a good scent to me - like carmelized sugar). My face was not drenched in essence right after and it was very easy to pat in and absorb any remaining essence.

The essence afterwards reminds me of making my own sheet mask with a good rose water/floral toner...This felt hydrating, yet refreshingly light - perfect for those warmer summer days or nights.

If the Cica x Opuntia one still seems a bit "too hydrating" for your skin, this Rose x Hbiscus one is a good lightweight alternative especially if your concerns are brightening and/or light hydration.

If you like floral scents, that's another plus for this sheet mask as well. Although the ingredients aren't quite the same, this does make me curious to try Urang's Rose Essence. This Rose x Hibiscus mask isn't as anti-aging heavy as the Cica x Opuntia one, so while it was not as firming and smoothing to me, it is still a good sheet mask.

Final Rating = 4/5

Fresh + Organic

Final Impressions:

Overall I'm super impressed with these Urang sheet masks. They're not just cute to look out (though it makes it more likely to want to try them). They have great ingredients and they actually feel good on the skin.

I feel like the fact that the essence is kept separate from the actual mask until you're ready to use it...Just makes the whole sheet mask easier to apply because it hasn't been sitting, drenched in essence for who knows how long, LOL.

Sometimes I actually have a bit of trouble unraveling a drenched sheet mask for use because it's just so freaking wet and I'm like so afraid of tearing it apart. I did not have that problem here!

If you're still on the fence about trying these wonderful sheet masks, OhLolly does conveniently sell a set of one sheet mask each (2 total) so you can try both variations without worrying about buying an entire box set.

Other Products For a Soothing/Hydrating Routine

Products of Interest:

If you enjoyed reading this post about the Urang sheet masks and/or are interested in anything similar (ingredients/features-wise), I'll suggest to you some other products that are worth checking out (all are available from OhLolly).
  • Huxley Oil Essence - I mentioned this earlier but the Cica x Opuntia sheet mask totally reminds me of this oil/essence hybrid (with loads of prickly pear). The consistency/texture also feels very similar to the essence in the Cica x Opuntia. If you like a nice silky feeling, this is still my favorite facial oil for my combination skin.
  • Huxley Fresh and More Cream - This has prickly pear as the main ingredient (similar to the Cica x Opuntia sheet mask) and is a great option as the last step in your skin care routine when you want something more lightweight, yet still hydrating. Perfect for during the day and/or warmer temps.
  • Huxley Good Night Sleep Mask - This has prickly pear as the main ingredient (similar to the Cica x Opuntia sheet mask) and is a great option when you actually want to leave on/mask overnight as opposed to only a 15-20 minute sheet mask session. If you like double-masking, I do recommend using this as the last step in your routine after using the Cica x Opuntia sheet mask.
  • Urang Brightening Blue Oil Serum - This is similar to the Rose x Hibiscus sheet mask in that chamomile is one of the main ingredients. As an oil serum, I would recommend using a couple of drops on your face and then layering any sheet mask of your choice over (to make a "hydration sandwhich"). You can then choose to use additional drops of the oil serum after your sheet mask session. I also like to use a couple of drops of oil and mix it in with my moisturizer or sleeping mask.
  • Urang True Rose Repair Essence - I mentioned this earlier but this product, although still very different, is somewhat similar to the Rose x Hibiscus sheet mask. This one has a whopping 54% rosa damascena flower water. If you really love rose/floral products, this one is worth a try (especially if your skin generally responds well to rose/rose water).
  • Urang Rose Ceramide Cream - This has 33% rosa damascena flower water and is a great option when you want a slightly heavier moisturizer (hydrating), yet soothing for your skin. Like its name - this does have ceramides (1500ppm to be exact). If you love both rose and ceramide products, this is a winning combination of both.
Any questions about this product and/or my experience, please let me know! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
